Mr. Ibasco talks about 3D painting

Mr. Kenneth A. Ibasco, an alumnus of Sacred Heart College talked during the Cordian Art Society (CAS) painting workshop held at Likhain Artspace and Resto, Lucena City, August 22.

Cordian Art Society members together with Mrs. Agatha Brenica Ilagan, moderator of the CAS and Dr. Maria Lucila M. Baroro, Vice-President of Student Development/Well-being & External Linkages were gathered to attend the workshop.

Secretary of the CAS Mr. John Raymond Pereyra, led the opening prayer. Mrs. Ilagan did the opening remarks and introduction of the resource speaker.

Mr. Ibasco discussed first the importance of gradient in creating an artwork specially in making 3D paintings. The rules in using water color pencils was also demonstrated. After a short discussion, the members had an activity about mixing of multiple colors to create a smooth gradient. Even Dr. Baroro and Mrs. Ilagan actively participated in the activity.

The speaker check the works of each member and told them the good points of their works and some points for improvement. He also showed some of his artworks which is more on the images of different fishes.

Participants were amazed when Mr. Ibasco presented his on the spot artwork of 3D full-moon and landscape painting of sunset. He shared some techniques on how to add life to the paintings.

Small banquet were done before the application of the participants’ learnings regarding the new techniques and information about painting.

Sr. Nenita D. Pateña D.C, Assistant for the Vice-President of Administrative Services and Security also joined in the workshop. After an hour, the participants came up with various designs expressing their emotions during that time.

President of CAS Ms. Liza May Anilao together with Dr. Baroro and Sr. Pateña D.C gave the certificate and token for the speaker.

“Art is a way of expressing ourselves,” and “angat ang taong marunong sa kulay,” were emphasized in the message of Mr. Ibasco. He also said that he is very thankful because the group made his dream come true. He ended his message with a saying “you got me at your back guys.”

Dr. Baroro shared some of her experiences in arts during the deliberation of her closing remarks, wherein she mentioned that art is a way we can heal ourselves.

Sr. Nenita D. Pateña D.C gave a meaningful closing prayer for the activity.

“I’ve learned a lot, I knew the importance of brush shapes in creating a gradient and the techniques to create a smooth transition of colors. This workshop also made me realized that arts can make you feel better when you are sad” Ms. Maida Manzanilla said when she was asked about her significant learnings in the workshop.
