Four Accounting and Eight Business students attended the Ateneo seminar on Corporate Transfornation last November 18, 2016 at the Technopark Hotel, Santa Rosa, Laguna . The Cordians , Rupinder Kaur Barar, Gia Francesca Tan, Jun Pabello, Baljinder Dhillon, Ma. Luz Florence Uy, Frenzy Ritz Barretto, Blodymer Dalde, June Lovie Regidor, Kris Amiel Cayabyab, Nicole Mangahas, Ressa Laine M. Gonzales and Patricia Isabela Reinde, the only business and accounting students present, listened to the first speaker Atty. Rommel Gutierrez who tackled “What’s next for the Philippine Auto Industry”. Many would say traffic is one of the problems that occur here in our country that needs to be solved. Still the automotive market growth is uncontrollable; companies are still expanding the range of their products to compete from others. However, Mr. Gutierrez as a representative speaker from Toyota said that the market outlook this coming year is 380,000 units over 60% in Manila. They are focusing on the good medium term prospects which are their target and of course what they will provide for the market is something includes safety and environmental performance. The companies aim is to be profitable enough not only for their sake but also for the Philippine economics. The second speaker continue the talk regarding “Revolutionalizing Business Relationships”, it’s about the employee and employer relationships. We all know that some companies are getting focused on aiming their mission to earn more without realizing they also need to provide their employees some benefit plans for them to feel motivated. Employer and employee relationship is very significant when it comes to business and organization, and they should provide retirement plans every year choose who really needs it and remove the underperformer. Just like business relationships, there are different ideas and information you could get if you try to have interconnections with them. As of now the market are much dedicated with the booming technologies and somehow it really helps them to move forward as much as they want. Social media is one of the famous strategy nowadays because most individuals right now are somewhat to be called as ‘netizens’.

“Winning Business as Rule Shift” is the third topic that Mr. Ungria talked about. He narrated some stories to connect it with what is really happening within a business such as sailing, white water rafting, even the Curry and the 3 point line and the waze & traffic. In business there are also uncertainties and risks to face. In sailing we cannot control the wind but you can adjust your sails just like in business there are struggles that you’re not expecting to come but all you need to do is to face and solve it. And dealing with those struggles somehow needs some skills and competencies. You can enjoy business as well but know the risk after all. And remember to have an expert with you. From the whole seminar, what I get and absorbed is that change is really one of the permanent thing in this world. As time goes by changes in every aspect also comes around especially in the market industry. So it’s very important to broaden our mind to be more competitive enough for other country. Make wise decisions and try to balance everything. At this moment we would say that many will strive for more unless they are not getting what they want but let us use our time and skills effectively and efficiently for us to inspire and spread what success really means when in comes to the continuous transformation of the economy.

The free seminar of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business was made possible by Dean Arnel L. Cadeliña who endorsed the 12 Dean’s Lister.
