On the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. the center launched the Teaching Excellence Award to recognize teachers who have demonstrated excellence in the professions and made important contributions to the enhancement of student learning.

On October 15, 2008, Mrs. Luzviminda Calzado, Asst. Principal for the Lower Basic Education Department was chosen as the National Winner for the Teaching Excellence Award out of the 11 national finalists. Mrs. Calzado has been deeply involved in community activities through speech and drama and initiated an activity tagged as Vincent at Louise Paaralan sa Lansangan . She also directed the LUDICSA Cultural Presentation Quezon Festival on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary last August, 2008 and was awarded as the LUDICSA Outstanding Teacher.

The national finalists were chosen from among the 200 nominees from all over the country. Other awardees are Ms. Alicia M. Javier of Sta. Catalina College-Binan, Mr. Ronaldo Emiliano of the University of Baguio-High School and Mrs. Macaria M. Villar of Wesleyan University – Philippines in Cabanatuan City.

On the other hand, Sacred Heart College was also awarded a plaque on Commmitment to Academic Excellence for showing dedication to the advancement of quality education through assessment and research for the past thirty years of partnership with the school.

The board of judges include : Fr. Roderick C. Salazar, Immediate Past President of CEAP as chair, Dr. Grace H. Aguiling-Dalisay of the Republican College, Prof. Lilia F. Vergara of the Philippine Science High School, Dr. Erminda C. Castillo-Fortes of the Philippine Normal University and Dr. Lakangiting Garcia of the De la Salle University-Manila as members.

The President, Sister Fe G. Gedalanga, DC, the Vice-President for Academics, Research, Christian and Vincentian Formation, Dr. Josefina M. Parentela and the BED Principal , Mrs. Wenifreda Frondoza attended the ceremony. They also attended the Workshop sponsored by CEM entitled : Utilizing Data to Improve Instruction and Learning facilitated by Dr. Edie L. Holcomb , Executive Director , Curriculum and Instructional Services, Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA.
