Cordians unite in band exhibition

Students of Sacred Heart College (SHC) performed in the Band Exhibition at SHC’s Rendu Cultural Gymnasium, August 13. Groups of musically talented individuals gathered at the SHC’s gymnasium to perform their desired genre in front of their fellow batch mates and schoolmates. The groups performing are composed of students from the Higher Basic Education Department (HBED), the Senior High School Department (SHS), and the Higher Education Department (HED).

Mrs. Anna Libabel U. Ferreras , Director of Student Activities/Development and Discipline, stated in her opening remarks that Band Exhibition is an inter-department event leading to the collaboration of HBED, SHS, and HED students.

To start, Decras or the band representing the College of Business Administration was the first to perform with their Original Pilipino Music (OPM) song covers like Parokya ni Edgar’s My One and Only You. The members were Alvin Borromeo Jr., Paul Azures, Jennifer Marco, John Leonard Rondero, and Marcus Angay.

The next band was The Grinders representing Grade 9 in HBED including Jaden Tan, David Nicdao, Ray Mark Anglo, and Mathew Alemania who played Ang Huling El Bimbo by Eraserheads.

Performing their cover of Mahal Kita Pero Di Mo Lang Alam by Rocksteddy, College of Teacher Education (COTED) showcased their talent in front of the audience.

SHS also showed their talents wherein they had an entry, a band called Kanton Kalimot with the members Joniel Josh De Luna, Rodolfo Sena III, Leandro Julian Ruz, Ezekiel Santiago, Dominic Rato, and Dwight Zoleta who performed Akin Ka Na Lang by Itchyworms, Binibini at Ang Huling El Bimbo.

Reviven was the next band which was again from SHS. Having Audrey Quarente, Arabelle Saberola, Jemikko Paderes, John Paul Daleon, Bryan Natad, and Vinson Villamin, Pangarap Lang Kita by Parokya ni Edgar was played.

Meanwhile, Oyor’s which is another band from SHS performed remix of two OPM songs, Ako Na Lang by Zia Quizon and Oo by Up Dharma Down. The members included were Jero Garde, Belle Coronel, and Alfredo Camelon.

Banda Roon, Banda Rito, a band from the College of Social Work(CSW) was next to present their song entitled Narda by Kamikazee. The eighth performer came from Grade 10 with the name The Rain Band.

Having Noemy Eclarin, Austin Abulencia, and Sofia Bandelaria, Defend Cool Stuff which was the last band to perform played American songs like Demons by Imagine Dragons and Fifteen by Taylor Swift.

Due to torrential rains, the event had been transferred from the white stage to SHC’s gymnasium. Sean Aaron Profugo and Tricia Abdilla, both students from HED served as masters-of-ceremony.
