Baljinder Dhillon, BSBA 4FM captured 3rd place in the highly coveted Ten Outstanding Finance Students given January 13, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center. Conferred by the Junior Confederation of Finance Associations – Philippines the competition is considered the most prestigious Finance competition participated by students all over the country.

Mr. Dhillon’s journey started when he grabbed the opportunity to respond in the Junior Confederation of Finance Associations – Philippines (JCFAP) announcement of the competition last year. Despite being busy maintaining his Academics, he prepared the necessary documents and sought the assistance of Dean Arnel Cadeliña, the moderator of the JFINEX in checking as well as endorsing his documents.

Mr. Dhillon said that his goal is not to impress everybody but to be a better Finance student and he added that his entering the competition is to improve himself and compete with no one but himself. He submitted his credentials undergone a series of interview in which the first result landed him to the Top 50 Outstanding Finance students which was posted in JCFAP page last November 2017.

An online examination was given to test his financial management skills which he passed resulting to be ranked as one of the Top 30. It did not stop there, another online examination and phone interview were conducted which Mr. Dhillon successfully hurdled. He was also asked to prepare an advocacy and Mr. Dhillon made a video entitled “Money for young People” wherein he campaigned to young people the importance of Saving Money as early as they can. Mr. Dhillon coordinated with PSBank and the bank helped him explained to the students of Gulang-Gulang Natonal High School the PSBank Teen Savers Account with only one peso to open an account with no maintaining balance.

After a month, the Top 15 was announced and Mr. Dhillon made a history by being one. He was asked to go to Manila for another Finance examination and on the spot panel interview. It was a memorable January 17, 2018 when Mr. Dhillon was instructed to go SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City to participate on the last phase of the competition: the dreaded debate on financial topics. He successfully defend the debate topics given to him and impressed the judges on his assertiveness and eloquence.

Mr. Dhillon captured the Top 3 and created a historical feat for Sacred Heart College. In asking him what will be his advice for future candidate for Outstanding Finance Student he said “Go beyond your limit always! Don’t limit yourself based on your capabilities but see how capable you are by doing the things you thought that you can’t. And then if you already accept your limitations go beyond them because you can’t put limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get. Remember the sky is the limit and you never have the same experience twice. If you want it dream for it, set a goal for you to be determine to achieve it”.
