JMA Invites DTI on Consumerism Rights & ASEAN Integration

The Junior Marketing Association (JMA)- Sacred Heart College spearheads a seminar by inviting the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Consumerism Rights & ASEAN Integration on December 15, 2017 at the SHC Audio Visual Room. With the objective of equipping the participants with knowledge about their rights as consumers, the importance of a good packaging for their product, and the changes that will be brought about by the ASEAN Integration the 4-hour seminar was attended by business students.

With Zeus Buangin, VP for Research and Development and Fatima Sardina, Junior VP for Finance as masters-of-ceremony, the program started with an opening prayer led by Danica Samonte, VP for Finance, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the College Hymn. Then the JMA Executive Vice President, Rupinder Kaur Barar delivered the opening remarks.

The first speaker was Mrs. Leila Cabreros who enlightened the participants about their rights as consumers, their responsibilities as consumers and about fair trade laws. She specifically made sure that everyone understood the information by constantly asking and answering questions throughout her talk.

The second speaker was Mr. Philip Oliveros who through detailed discussion explained what customers should know about packaging and labeling. He also elaborated why it is essential to have attractive or unique product packaging.

The last speaker for the day was Mr. Eric Oliveros who explained to the 63 participants what changes the Philippines is facing and what they need to do to keep up with this changes and be globally competent entrepreneurs.

To conclude the event, the VP for Internal Affairs, Vichelle Coleen Alcala delivered the closing remarks and the closing prayer. The objectives of the activity were met and as the business students left the AVR, they felt a sense of accomplishment and contentment from the knowledge and the information acquired.
