Cordians Attend the the 10th Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit of Go Negosyo

One Hundred Twenty Nine BSBA Cordians join the 15,000 participants who enthusiastically attend the Go Negosyo 10th Filipina Entrepreneurship Summit at the World Trade Center, Pasay on March 6, 2018. The SHC Junior Marketing Association officers, serving as organizer, took the opportunity of inviting 5 faculty to accompany the students. The faculty are Mrs. Marilyn Iglesias, Ms. Yvonne Mier Mr. Arnel Cadelina, Mrs. Anna Liza Mendiola, and Mr. Eduardo Mancilla.

With the aim of listening to the insights and advices of women entrepreneurs, the Cordians and other attendees were welcome in a plenary message by the Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo Founder Joey Conception. Sen. Grace Poe deliver an inspirational message wherein she paid honor to those women who sacrificed and made their marks in their respective field. Gracing the event were Sen. Bam Aquino, Sen. Grace Poe, Amb. Sung Kim of the U.S., Amb. Igor Khovaev of Russia, Amb. Win Naing of Myanmar, and Amb. Kok Li Peng of Singapore, and Ms. Alice Eduardo of Sta. Elena Construction. Five forums were prepared to educate the participant about various matters of importance.

The first forum was the keynote forum entitled “WOMENtorship: Sharing of insights and advices from champion women entrepreneurs.” Top women in their respective industries joined this forum, including: Tessie Sy-Coson, Vice Chair of SM Investments Corp, Dr. Vicki Belo, Dermatologist and CEO of Belo Medical Group, Lizzie Eder Zobel, Chairman and Co-Founder of Teach for the Philippines, Natividad Cheng, CEO of Uratex, Anne Curtis Smith-Heussaff, Co-founder and Creative Director of BLK Cosmetics, Clarissa Delgado, Co-founder and CEO of Teach for the Philippines, Merle Arnaldo-Paete, 15th Citi Microentrepreneur of the Year, Owner of Pili nuts and pili oil production, and Georgina Wilson-Burnand, Co-founder and Marketing Director of Sunnies Studios. Issa Litton, Corporate & Lifestyle Events Host was the one moderating the discussion.

The second forum of the summit was entitled “Mainstreaming Market Access and Expanding Market Reach: Discussion on Innovative Platforms and Opportunities for tapping new and growing your market.” The panelists for this forum were: Inanc Balci, CEO and Co-Founder of Lazada Philippines, Constantin Robertz, Managing Director of Zalora Philippines, Jeannie Javelosa, Lead, GREAT WOMEN in ASEAN Initiative, Atty. Paul Santos, President of the Philippines Retailers Association, and Norlela Suhailee, Chair of ASEAN Coordinating Committee for MSMES. Bettina Quimson, Senior Adviser for ICT of ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines moderated the discussion.

The third forum was entitled “Access to Right and Inclusive Money: Discussion on Platforms, Tools and Opportunities for enhanced MSME support.”Panelists of this very informative discussion were Chuchi Fonacier, Deputy Governor of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Lito Villanueva, Managing Director of FintQ, Maria Ana Pascual, Head of Online Merchant Solutions of Mynt, Gigi Gatti, Regional Director for Philippines of Grameen Foundation, and Nicole Paterno, Founder of 1000 Angels. Moderating the discussion was Rj Ledesma, Co-founder of Mercato Centrale.

Next was the 4th forum of the summit entitled “Changing the Game: Successful Women Innovators and Disruptors.”Panelists who joined in this discussion were Ma Khine Zaw, CEO of Earth Group of Companies, Felicia Atienza, President and CEO of Chinese International School Manila, Margarita Forés, President of Cibo, Inc., Josephine Costales, Chairperson for Costales Nature Farms, Rissa Mananquil-Trillo, Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer of Happy Skin, Neri Miranda, Celebrity Entrepreneur, Lenora Cabili, Founder, Creative Designer of Filip + Inna, Charisse Tinio, and Owner of Nice Print Photography, and Carolina Orosa, President and COO of Home Care Assistance. Karen Davila, Broadcast Journalist and TV Anchor was the on moderating the discussion.

To wrap up the summit’s series of talks was the forum on “Doing Business the Millennial Way: Insights and Advices from Young Entrepreneurs.” Joining the final forum were panelists Krie Lopez, Founder of Messy Bessy Cleaners, Cherrie Atilano, Founder and CEO of Agrea Agricultural Systems Inc, Helen Kaye Layco, CEO of Macho Mucho, Maria Francesca Tan, President and CEO of MFT Group of Companies, Abbey Sy, Artist, Author and Creative Entrepreneur, Aya Fernandez, Founder and President of Project Lily PH, Jen Gerodias-Diaz, CEO and Founder of Snoe Beauty and Angely Dub, CEO of Access Travel. Gretchen Ho, TV Host and Celebrity Endorser was moderating the discussion.

To conclude the event, the awarding of the 2018 Go Negosyo Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneurs was presented by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion, DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez and Alice Eduardo of Sta. Elena Construction Development.

Through attending this event, the Cordians were not only able to see celebrities like movie stars turned entrepreneurs and politicians, but they were also able to acquire knowledge about entrepreneurship, agricultural businesses, innovation and women power. They were able to acquire knowledge from individual who are experienced and successful in their on respective fields. The Cordians were not only able to take home memories of the grand event but also they went home satisfied and fully equipped with the knowledge necessary in becoming a successful entrepreneur and a leader in their industry.
