JFINEX up the ante by joining “Finance Literacy Caravan”

Twenty One business students who are members of the Junior Financial and Investment Executives (JFINEX) accepted the invitation of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas counterpart by joining the “Finance Literacy Caravan: Rev Up Your Financial Intelligence: Change the way you see money” last September 24, 2016 at FREEDOM HALL of the university. Eight colleges and universities from all parts of Southern Luzon joined the event.

The first speaker was Abrea Consulting Group (ACG), Center for Strategic Reforms of the Philippines (CSR Philippines); Mr. Raymond Abrea who shared about the different taxes in the Philippines. He quoted “Knowledge is not just a power it will save you millions of pesos”. He discuss about where do our taxes go. From 100 %, 60% of the tax came from the different companies, not just company but huge. He clearly said that 82% out of 100% are come from the salaries of employees and where does 18% go? He just chuckled. 89Million out of 104Million population were not registered. Participants were clearly seen that he loved our own country. He showed 3 videos about Philippines and it’s inspiring. He quoted “honesty is the best policy” it may sound cliché but that quotes remains on my mind until now. He said.

Co-founder and head of operations of Investagrams. Worked for two of the top foreign brokerages here in the Philippines,namely Macquarie and Credit Suisse. He has been trading for a living for 5 years. BS Applied Corporate Management from De La Salle University.Mr. John Christian “JC” Bisnar A 25 year old man,talking in front of 600 participants inside the freedom hall doesn’t care if all of the participants laughs his past life (high school and college). He elaborate his addiction before which is computer games BUT his addiction becomes his obsession. He used his addiction by trading with the amount of P50,000 pesos. His personality was unbelievable. He got his 1st million when he was just 21 year old. He held 2 games about stocks and of course there are prizes. He just quoted “don’t be afraid to be great”.

The third speaker was Mr. Joseph Brian Noynay, an educator by heart, investment mentor, he was cum laude when he graduated at University of the Philippines.

He talked about financial crime. Before he proceeds on his talk, He constructed a game and he showed 10 cases and they are 8 participants. The participants will answer if it was legit or bogus and luckily, Mr. Bobby Dhillon won the game. He asks 1 question. “Why do people get scammed?” there are 2 choices, it’s either you are greed or you are ignorant, he said. Mr. Noynay stated “financial education must start within the family” and last, he stated “it’s not how much you HAVE, it’s how you SAVE AND INVEST”.

A 23-year-old Speaker, Mr Larry Collin. He shared about how he’s working, where he works, how much he earned per hour and who’s his boss.

He shared on how to work at home. He showed 10 advantages.

1. More time with family
2. Less stressful environment
3. Eliminate long continue
4. Avoid traffic
5. Flexibility
6. Better health
7. More productive
8. Work/home life balance
9. Save more
10. Unlimited income

BUT! He also showed 5 disadvantages on working at home.
1. Risk of isolation
2. Difficulty in separating home from work
3. Need for high self-discipline
4. High self-motivation required
5. Distractions

He clearly stated that he’s earning 10$ per HOUR. He can work at coffee shop, hotel lobby and wherever he wanted as long as he has an internet connection.
