JPAMA AND BSP CONDUCT SEMINAR ON PNGC AND P.E.R.A.

The Junior Philippine Association of Management Accountants (JPAMA) and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas jointly conducted a Philippine New Generation Currency (PNGC) and Personal Equity and Retirement Account (PERA) seminar last September 29, 2017, at Multi-Purpose Hall, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Lucena Branch.

Initiated by Mr. Miguel Sebastian T. Liwanag, JPAMA President the seminar was endorsed by Dean Arnel L. Cadeliña and approved by the BSP thru Ms. Cyrill B. Molina, Administrative Division Manager, BSP Lucena Branch.

Ms. Jeizl de Luna and Ms. Hanna Grace Cerdeña of the Accountancy Department; Ms. Yvonne Hitty Mier and Mrs. Anna Liza B. Mendiola of the College of Business Administration (CBA) ; Management Accounting and Financial Management students attended the seminar.

The first speaker, Ms. Karel Saskia B. Odiver, Junior Research Specialist of Economic and Financial Learning Center (EFLC), talked about the Public Levels Security Features, The Clean Note Policy, The Requirements of Redeeming Mutilated Bank Notes, and Tips to Maintain The Cleanliness of the Banknote. She also discussed The Basic Steps on Recognizing Genuine Currency wherein she emphasized the importance of the "Feel, Look and Tilt" on checking the money, and The Comprehensive Overview of the Philippine New Generation Currency or the New Philippine Money, including its features, design, and meaning.

The second speaker, Ms. Melanie N. Condes, Senior Research Specialist of EFLC, discussed the Personal Equity and Retirement Account (PERA). According to her, PERA is a saving instrument for preparation of retirement and is exempted from tax. She also foregrounded the importance of investment saying, “if you don’t know, don’t touch” - students must engage themselves into the process of learning about investing instruments so that they could invest as early as possible.

Ms. Yvonne Hitty Mier, CBA Faculty delivered the closing remarks wherein she extended her deepest gratitude to BSP - Lucena for the opportunity that was given to JPAMA. Afterwards, Mr. Miguel Sebastian T. Liwanag gives the certificate of appreciation to BSP.

Ms. Karel Saskia B. Odiver was the master of the ceremony.
