February 25, 2016 – Three hundred fifty four (354) Cordian students from different religious organizations, Marillac Grantees and Cordian Volunteers with the guidance of religious organization moderators, some HED faculty, Sr. Nenita Pateña DC and Rev. Msgr. Rolando Oliverio participated in the Lenten Pilgrimage 2016 in the different churches of the dioceses of Lucena, San Pablo Laguna and Batangas.

All Cordian pilgrims gathered around 5:30 am at the SHC White Stage with a short orientation about the objectives of the spiritual activity and proper behavior expected to each pilgrim. The opening prayer and short explanation about the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy and Holy Doors led by Rev. Msgr. Rolando Oliverio followed. He said that Pope Francis has announced an opportunity for Catholics to obtain a plenary indulgence during the Year of Mercy by passing through a Holy Door which is a sign of God’s opening a new pathway to salvation. He added that the pilgrimage was journey of walking closer with God and discovering "moments of grace and spiritual renewal". The doors where all the pilgrim entered are symbols of God's mercy, open to welcome everyone into the compassion of God's love that Christ proclaimed.

Pilgrimage started by blowing the Tambuli by Msgr. Oliverio which is like how Abraham and Moses gathered the people entrusted in their care for a journey leading to the promise land. The seven Churches that the Cordian pilgrims visited were St. Ferdinand Cathedral, Lucena, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Sariaya, Quezon, San Pedro Bautista Parish in Candelaria, Quezon, St. John the Baptist Parish, Tiaong, Quezon, Saint Paul the First Hermit, also known as the San Pablo Cathedral, Our Lady Pillar Parish in Alaminos and St. Padre Pio Shrine in Batangas.

In every church, pilgrims were welcomed either by the parish priest or a lay representative and given a short background of the parish. Two Stations of the Cross were contemplated for every church visited. At St. Padre Pio Shrine, Holy Eucharist was celebrated and plenary indulgence was given to every Cordian pilgrim by the parish priest and Msgr. Oliverio. Every pilgrim felt blessed and renewed as they go back home and promised to share with others what they have received from their spiritual journey.
