Inah Alyssa A. Ellana, an alumna of Sacred Heart College, who graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Social work, Batch 2017 and passed the Licensure Examination for Social Workers in the same year, was accepted to the Postulancy Program of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Louise de Marillac- Asia (PSLM-A), last August 1, 2019. Together with her who were accepted on the same day were Katrina C. Iballar (Bicol), Lourile E.Espin(Iloilo) , and Arlene T. Tambalo (Iloilo).
In the Rite of the Acceptance to the Postulancy, Sr. Lea Pama, DC, the Coordinator of the Postulancy Community, said that this is a period of continuing discernment and discovery of the vocation of the a Daughter of Charity… a journey of searching and discovering God’s plan and dream for each of them.
In her message, Sr. Maria Ana Rosario G. Evidente, DC, the Visitatrix of the PSLM-A, welcomed the new Postulants to a “world of discovering themselves” as they respond to the invitation of God each day. It is a journey with the Holy Founders of the Daughters of Charity: St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. She told the newly accepted Postulants that God’s call is special, that this stage can be hazy and surprising but what they can be assured of is God’s love for each of them. It is one’s being that God wants to form not much of what one can do.
The Postulancy formation lasts for about twelve months after which they go through a process of discernment and evaluation for the next stage of formation which is the Seminary.
Another vocation nurtured at Sacred Heart College is in the person of Sister Kristine Ann Rom, a former faculty member of the Integrated Basic Education Department who was accepted as a member of the Daughters of Charity on September 27, 2018. Sister Kristine is now having her Seminary Formation at Villa Sta. Luisa, Tagaytay City together with nine other Filipina sisters and two sisters from Thailand.
Sacred Heart College vocation promotion is an integral part of the Christian Vincentian Formation of the school. The Vincentian Vocation Promoters Club, headed by Mrs. Sylvia Ingente as Moderator with Sr. Mercy Merced, DC as Spiritual Adviser holds vocation animation sessions for students twice a month. They are engaged in Community Outreach Program for those who are poor and also join the Vocation activities of the Diocese of Lucena. A group of the faculty and non-teaching staff also joins the DC National Capital Region Vocation Promotion Program to assist young women in discerning their vocation in life.
