Eighty universities and colleges from different parts of the country, including five financial management students from Sacred Heart College (SHC) Lucena City, compete in the recently concluded “21st Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC) Elimination Round” last October 25, 2019. The event was simultaneously held in seven sites- Baguio, Pampanga, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, Davao, and NCR- Manila, wherein the SHC team competed alongside 36 colleges and universities at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Manila. The competition was presented by the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (JFinex) through its Junior Finex Committee and in partnership with JPMorgan Chase & Co.
The SHC team was composed of three second year financial management students, namely: Marivic Constantino, Denise Juacalla and Andrey Atienza, and two third year financial management students, namely: Carl James Limjueco, Elijah Dominic Samonte, coached by Dean Arnel L. Cadeliña, MBA, RREA. The quiz revolved mainly on the following topics: finance tools and foundations, financial reporting and analysis, management accounting, valuation and information technology. The competition was automated using the technology of project NOAH that enabled them to hold the competition simultaneously from different places and is considered the longest running finance competition in the country.
